The Universe is an incredibly interesting place. How wonderful it is that we are here, endowed with intelligence and curiosity (and the Internet), able to ponder it all!
Additionally, we live in incredibly remarkable times. Scientific breakthroughs and discoveries, advancements in technology, new and creative ideas, all bringing the majesty and mystery of the Universe into clearer focus. Each day, accelerating change is adding to the novelty and complexity of our fascinating Universe.
The phrase “Huge Universe, very tiny head” refers to the two greatest frontiers:
the vast space-time and wonderful beauty of the Cosmos, and the fantastic and limitless possibilities of the Mind.
These subjects are juxtaposed, highlighting their reciprocal nature.
The Macrocosm and the Microcosm, respectively.
The phrase is borrowed from a sample used in the song “Around the World in a Tea Daze” by Shpongle. The sample is as follows:
“…we can take this huge universe, and put it inside a very tiny head. We fold it…”
The following five categories are the focus of this blog:
- The Cosmos
All that is, or ever was, or ever will be.
Time, Space, Matter, and Energy.
The Universe is big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the drug store, but that’s just peanuts to the Universe.
- The Mind
Truly, the most vast, unexplored frontier.
There are more connections in the brain than there are atoms in the known universe.
- The Arts
Art is the window to one’s soul. Without it, one would never be able to see beyond one’s immediate world; nor could the world see the one within.
- The Body
The most complex machine in the known universe.
The physical representation of ourselves.
- The Earth
Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.
Never does nature say one thing and wisdom another.
